Woman therapist standing in front of greenery

Erin Carter, LCSW

As a therapist intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), with clinical lineage rooted in the work of Marsha Linehan, I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals seeking meaningful and lasting change. My approach balances acceptance and transformation, helping clients build lives that feel both stable and worth living.

My ideal clients are individuals who experience intense emotions, struggle with emotional regulation, or find themselves caught in patterns of distress that impact their relationships, sense of self, and daily functioning. This includes people navigating symptoms associated with borderline personality disorder, chronic suicidality, self-harm behaviors, trauma-related difficulties, and mood instability. I also work well with clients who feel misunderstood, invalidated, or overwhelmed, and who are ready—whether cautiously or wholeheartedly—to learn new skills and engage in a structured, supportive therapeutic process.

I am especially drawn to working with clients who value a collaborative and skills-based approach to therapy. Whether they are new to DBT or have tried other forms of therapy without success, my clients are those willing to explore both acceptance and change, practice mindfulness, and develop practical tools to manage distress, improve relationships, and strengthen their sense of identity.

Through individual therapy, skills training, and ongoing support, I strive to create a validating and nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered. Together, we work toward reducing suffering, increasing emotional resilience, and building lives aligned with each client’s values.
